The Department of Psychiatry of the Aktobe State Medical Institute was founded in 1961.
The first head of the department was a psychiatrist, professor Prilensky Yuri Fedorovich, later the department was headed by: Alexander Gavrilovich Kalyapin; Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Katkovnikov Albert Ilyich (1981 - 1999). During the years of heading the department, Albert Ilyich made a great contribution to the development of science and psychiatry services in Kazakhstan.
The next head of the department was doctor of medical sciences, professor Nazarov Zinulla Aydarovich (1999 - 2004), candidate of medical sciences. Since 2004 to 2009 the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Neurology was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Ibatov Amageldy Nigmetovich, currently retired, continues to work as a psychiatrist in Uralsk.Over the years, teachers of the Department of Psychiatry have worked: Associate Professor Sarsembaev Kairatbek Talgatbekovich, Tleugarin Kulzhan Tleuovich, Kolesnikov Alexander Anatolyevich, Chernikov Alexander Konstantinovich, Kaldybaeva Venera Kadyrovna.Graduated from clinical residency and subsequently taught at the department Dyachkova Valentina Nikolaevna, Tazhibaev Oskar Makhmudovich. Urazova Gulmira Nurlanovna passed clinical residency at the department, at present she is the deputy chief physician of the Aktobe regional center for mental health. Subordination and internship at the Department of Psychiatry was held by Nikolai Anatolyevich Negay, currently the director of the Republican Center for Mental Health.
Since 2009 and up to the present time the responsible for the course of psychiatry and narcology of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology is Pavlenko Valery Petrovich - Doctor of Medical Sciences, associate professor, psychiatrist of the highest category, chief freelance psychiatrist of the regional health department.
Pavlenko Valery Petrovich graduated from the Aktobe State Medical Institute in 1995 and during his internship in psychiatry was admitted to the department as an assistant trainee. Since 1998 - assistant, the next associate professor, since 2009 has been responsible for the course of psychiatry and narcology. In 2004. Pavlenko V.P. defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: "Pharmacological analysis of cerebral reinforcement and emotional memory with hormonal imbalance", in 2010. defended doctoral dissertation on the topic "Pathogenetic mechanisms of alcohol and opium addiction, is the author of over 100 scientific papers in foreign and domestic journals, and the author of educational and methodological manuals: "Innovative teaching technologies" and "Mental and behavioral disorders as a result of the use of opioids (opium addiction)", as well as the monograph "New in the treatment of alcoholism: clinical pharmacology of proprotene-100”. Working on the course, Pavlenko Valery Petrovich reads lectures and conducts practical classes for students, organizes and conducts retraining and advanced training cycles for doctors and paramedics. Consults patients in the regional mental health center and other medical institutions. He is currently working on the creation of an electronic textbook on psychiatry. His research interests include substance abuse disorders.

Khamitova Zhanar Muratovna - Acting Associate Professor, psychiatrist of the first category, teacher, graduated from Aktobe State Medical Institute in 1997. Teaching experience - 18 years. She worked as a practical neuropathologist, since 2003 - assistant at the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology, ZKGMA named after Marat Ospanov. Since 2010, acting Associate Professor of the Course of Psychiatry and Narcology. Gives lectures, conducts practical classes in psychiatry and narcology, consults patients in psycho-neurological and narcological dispensaries. She is constantly improving her knowledge in the field of psychiatry and narcology. In 2010, she published a textbook in the state language "Mental and behavioral disorders caused by drug use". Author of 7 scientific articles. In the sphere of scientific interests of Khamitova Zh.M. includes pharmacotherapy for drug addiction disorders.
Ramazanova Akmaral Adietovna - assistant, master of medical sciences, narcologist, teaching experience - 23 years. She conducts lectures and practical classes. The topic of the master's thesis: "Biomarkers of premature aging in persons in long-term contact with environmentally aggressive substances." She has 3 textbooks in Kazakh, 1 - in Russian. Author of about 50 scientific articles. Research interests: research into the problem of aging among workers of the AZHS plant and university staff, research into altered states of consciousness. He is the executive secretary of the university admissions committee, the secretary of the administration, is actively involved in the public work of the university.
Zainullin Stanislav Vladimirovich - psychiatrist of the first category, assistant, graduated from the Aktobe State Medical Institute in 1993. From the same year, after completing an internship, he worked as a psychiatrist at the regional neuropsychiatric dispensary. At the Department of Psychiatry since 1999. Since 2003 - assistant of the department, conducts practical classes in psychiatry and narcology, supervises patients in a psychoneurological dispensary. Akhmetova Svetlana Akhantaevna - assistant, narcologist, psychiatrist. Since 2011 - assistant of the department, conducts practical training. Introduced innovative TBL and CBL methods into the work of the course on alcoholism and opium addiction. Research interests: mental and behavioral disorders as a result of alcohol use. Author of 10 scientific articles. Responsible for the educational work of the course. She actively participates in the sports activities of the university; she took 1 prize in table tennis.
Sabyr Laura Mendybaevna - graduated from the Aktobe State Medical Institute in 1991. In 2002-2005. graduated from the Aktobe State Pedagogical Institute, specializing in "English and German languages", received the qualification "Teacher of foreign languages with higher professional education." Since 2016, she worked as an assistant at the Department of Neurology with a course in psychiatry and narcology and graduated in absentia from the Aktobe Regional State University. K. Zhubanova (2016-2018), received a bachelor's degree in social knowledge, specialty "Psychology", from 2018 to 2020 she studied at the magistracy of the Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanova, specialty "Psychology", received a master's degree in social sciences. Thesis topic: "Formation of psychological readiness of students for professional activity."In 2020, she released a course of lectures "Psychology in the professional activity of a doctor." At present, she is an assistant in the course of psychiatry and narcology, psychiatrist, lectures and conducts practical classes in psychiatry and narcology in English. She is actively engaged in educational and methodological work in Kazakh, Russian and English, deals with issues of psychological counseling. Speaks upper-intermediate English. Research interests: psychotherapy, psychological counseling, behavioral psychotherapy.
The course of psychiatry and narcology is located on the base of the Aktobe Regional Center for Mental Health, where, currently, in two disciplines "Psychiatry" and "Narcology", students of the 3rd year of the faculty "Dentistry", "Nursing", 5th course of the faculty "General Medicine" Also, residents of the 1st and 2nd year of study in the specialty "Psychiatry, including children's" are engaged in the course of psychiatry and narcology. The main directions of the course are scientific, pedagogical and clinical activities.
In order to improve the organization of the scientific process, new educational learning technologies (PBL, CBL, TBL) are being introduced on the course, educational and methodological complexes of disciplines, tests of current, midterm and final control, situational tasks, methodological recommendations are developed and introduced into the Platonus Automated Information System., various interactive teaching methods (simulator, role-playing game). When giving lectures and conducting practical exercises, the course teachers widely use modern teaching methods using audio and video materials, demonstrations of patients.
Course staff conduct lectures and practical classes for students, interns, actively introduce innovative and interactive teaching methods in the educational process, develop educational and methodological literature, organize and conduct retraining and advanced training cycles for doctors and paramedical workers, advise, supervise patients in neuropsychiatric and narcological dispensaries, other medical institutions of the city and region, conduct educational work among students, pupils and schoolchildren of educational institutions of the city. The main scientific direction of the course in recent years is the study of risk and protection factors, prevention of suicidal behavior among children and adolescents.
In 2014, on the basis of West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov Medical University, the course of psychiatry and narcology held a regional scientific and practical conference with international participation "Psychiatric service in Kazakhstan and Russia: common traditions, prospects for development and international cooperation", which was attended by representatives of universities of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. In the future, it is planned to hold scientific and practical conferences on the basis of WKMU on a regular basis.
The course staff make reports at scientific and practical conferences held in Kazakhstan, near and far abroad, publish the results of their own research, and appear on television and mtdia. The course of psychiatry and narcology maintains close ties with the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology and the Department of Psychiatry, Medical Psychology of the Orenburg State Medical University and the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology of the Saratov State Medical University named after V.I. Razumovsky.
