The Center for Practical Skills was established in 2007. The center was founded with the aim to organize an educational environment for teaching practical skills and to train medical personnel using simulation, mannequins, models, dummies, virtual models, interactive training computer programs in teaching methods.

The main tasks of the CPS are:

* Training practical skills using innovative teaching methods and using mannequins, virtual simulators, training computer programs, audio-video materials in the educational process;

* Involvement and development of standardized patients for training and assessment of clinical skills;

* Organization and conduct of final certification of practical skills by the OSCE method.

The CPS carries out its work under the direct supervision of the vice-rector for educational work.

Employees of the CPS are constantly improving their pedagogical skills, study at seminars and courses on simulation technologies, participate in the integration of simulation technologies into the educational process of the university. Experiences are exchanged by employees-doctors from other republics (mobile groups). In 2019, the center received its own accreditation certificate. The certificate was obtained from the All-Russian Association and ROSOMED "Society for Simulation Medicine Education in Russia". In the 2019-2020 academic year, together with the head of the CPS Iztleuov E.M. 3 tutorials and 1 publication in SCOPUS have been released.

At the present time, the center is working on the organization of research work on the creation of splints for immobilizing patients using new 3D printers, they are waterproof, provide good ventilation and allow the skin to breathe without causing discomfort.

On the basis of the CPS, doctors are trained, undergoing advanced training in the Department of Supplementary Education of the West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov medical university.

The teachers of the CPS train the university staff in the skills of providing first aid, doctors undergo advanced training, as well as vocational guidance work with junior university staff and train schoolchildren of the city.

The CPS has 14 training rooms and administrative offices. Simulation wards have been organized in which students can learn practical skills in pediatrics, therapy, emergency care, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, general medical practice on modern training simulators and mannequins. To develop the skills of clinical thinking among senior students and interns, simulator robots "ISTAN", "Noelle", "BabySIM" and "PediaSim" were purchased.

There is a virtual endovideosurgical simulators "LapSim", "LapMentor" and a simulator for laparoscopic surgery "GrossSMIT".

A methodological sector, a room for theoretical studies and debriefings was organized. In order to introduce innovative teaching methods and improve feedback, a video surveillance system with two-way audio communication was installed in 10 educational wards, and there are wards for outdoor one-way surveillance.
